Government Subsidies For Hearing Aids
At Art of Hearing, we want to ensure that high-quality hearing aids and professional hearing services are available to all who need them.
Government Funded Hearing Aids
The Australian Government Hearing Services Program is a scheme introduced by the Australian government that provides eligible voucher-holders access to fully and partially subsidised hearing aids and related hearing services through accredited service providers. The program is available to people who satisfy certain eligibility criteria, including children and those under the age of 26.
Art of Hearing is an accredited service provider, and our friendly team of expert audiologists in Perth are here to talk through your options and help you understand whether you are eligible to receive subsidised hearing services.
What services are available under the program?
At Art of Hearing, we can perform the following audiology tests;
- Advanced hearing tests to determine the type and severity of hearing loss
- High quality fully subsidised hearing devices
- Expert advice on your new device and how to utilise it in the most beneficial way possible
- Further support and therapy
- Batteries and maintenance of your hearing aid or device

Free Online Hearing Test
Hearing loss can be gradual, and often undetectable, as your brain adjusts to the level of hearing. This simple and free online hearing test can determine your base hearing capacity. Please note: this test is just a screening tool. If you have concerns, we suggest booking an appointment with our team for a comprehensive in-person hearing test.

What types of hearing devices can I receive?
The types of hearing devices available under this program include:
- Behind the ear (BTE) devices, including high powered BTE devices
- Open ear devices
- In-the-ear (ITE) devices
- In-the-canal (ITC) devices
Other devices that are not fitted as routinely as the above options are also available; work with your Art of Hearing practitioner to help determine the best option for you and your unique situation.
Am I eligible for the Australian Government Hearing Services Program?
The Australian Government Hearing Services Program has two components for potential eligibility: the voucher program and the Community Service Obligations (CSO) program. The CSO component is only available via Hearing Australia.
The voucher program gives eligibility if you are an Australian citizen or permanent resident 21 years or older, and fall within the following categories:
- A Pensioner Concession Card holder
- A Department of Veterans’ Affairs Gold Card holder
- A Department of Veterans’ Affairs White Card holder (for hearing specific conditions)
- A dependant person of someone in the above categories
- An Australian Defence Force member
- Referred by the Disability Employment Services Program
For those not falling within these eligibility criteria, you may be eligible under the CSO program. These services are available exclusively through Hearing Australia and eligibility criteria are outlined on the Australian Government Hearing Services website.
If you’re unsure about your eligibility, don’t hesitate to get into contact with us and we can help you through the process.
